Start Off the New Year with Simplicity
- When life becomes very complex, it’s hard to simplify anything, which can cause frustration and a feeling of getting nowhere.
- Instead of a New Year’s resolution, focus on your biggest frustration and figure out how to bring it from a complex state, to its most simple form.
- Use a company or service, or turn to family and friends, to help you simplify a complex frustration you have.
“Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.” That phrase is attributed to Leonardo da Vinci, and it reminds me of something I learned a long time ago: When my life is complex, I can’t get anything to be simple. I first have to take the complexity and reduce it down to something simple, otherwise, I can’t move forward. I end up feeling like a hamster on a wheel going around and around, nothing is really happening, and I end up very frustrated.
Rather than making a New Year’s resolution, take a look at your biggest frustration, and figure out how to take it from its complex state, because that’s probably what’s happening, and bring it down to its most simple form. It may take some time to figure that out, but there are tools out there to help you.
In the business world, we use a tool called LessDoing.com, which is a company that has virtual systems that do all kinds of tasks for you. It helps us simplify very complex systems, and keeps us from creating more complexity out of something that can stay simple.
I don’t know about you, but I love things to be simple. Every quarter, I sit down, and I go through how to take the complexity out of the simplicity I had, to go back to that simple state. Then I can move forward and progress, as well as feel confident about where I am going, where my company is going, my family, all my relationships, and everything that is important to me.
When you are starting a new year, it’s great to be able to simplify something in your life. Figure out what’s frustrating you, take the complexity out of it, and simplify it. Use outside help, like LessDoing.com, or any other service or company out there. Turn to your friends or family and so forth, so that you can be less frustrated and more productive and enjoy life more.
Until next time, enjoy.
