Interview with Advisor Jenny Pliester in Our Glenview Office

In August of 2020, the Coyle team gained a new advisor, Jenny Pliester, who is based out of our Glenview office. Gary recently sat down for a Zoom chat with Jenny to ask her a few questions to help our clients get to know her. Following is a summary of their conversation.

Gary: I’m here interviewing our newest advisor, Jenny Pliester. Jenny started back around August 2020, and we gave her a little time to get used to things at Coyle. Now I want you to get to know her so you can find out more about who she is as one of our advisors here at Coyle.

My first question is, why did you choose wealth management as a career?

Jenny: Hey Gary! I wouldn’t say I chose wealth management so much as it chose me. I actually had a winding path to get here but I would say that it comes down to my problem solving nature and that I really had a lot of earlier experiences where I saw how anxiety about money was impacting those I cared about. Once I discovered that I had a talent for helping people, it connected the career dots for me.

Gary: That’s great, thank you. How do you like to work with clients?

Jenny: It changes, because of course you find that the more you do it, you find more things that you like, but to me it’s important that we get to know each other on a deeper level, to learn more about our clients and that they learn more about us. Beyond that, I believe in a collaborative approach where we co-create a plan that combines our expertise here at Coyle with their vision but also back that up with a long-term relationship that’s based on advocacy, transparency, trust, and that they know that we are going to do whatever it takes to get things done for them.

Gary: That’s great, I appreciate that. When you were looking at Coyle, what made Coyle Financial attractive to you as an advisor?

Jenny: Kevin likes to joke that I joined Coyle even during a pandemic – so something strong must have attracted me here. What makes me a raving fan is simple: it’s that we care about our clients, we care about each other, we care about the community around us, and you can see that with the way that we work with our clients. I love that the majority of our clients live right down the street from me, they own small businesses in the area that you’ve probably heard of, and I also enjoy working with the next generation, getting them launched on their solid foundation of planning.

Gary: That’s great – working with the next generation, and certainly you’re in that age group to help those folks along. You answered this a bit, but I want you to give a little bit more on this next question. How would you define the ideal client advisor relationship?

Jenny: That’s an interesting question. I think it comes down to mutual respect, but also fun – I think it should be a fun relationship. A lot of time we think that when it comes to our finances it has to be boring, and it doesn’t. It’s often a reflection of the individual or family that we are working with and we want the relationship to be a reflection of them. We find that a lot of our clients are fun.

Gary: Talk about a lot of fun, this last question is “What do you enjoy doing outside of work?”

Jenny: Outside of work, I love to get outdoors. For a lot of our work we are inside the office, and I enjoy anything that is outside. I love to travel, see the world, see how other people live. I also like to stay active – tennis, skiing, hockey…it’s funny because I grew up in the city but I like anything with the outdoors. Camping, hiking, paddle boarding, that kind of stuff, and I enjoy my family too. I recently moved to Glenview, IL, and recently got married, so I’m spending a lot of time in newlywed bliss over here.

Gary: That’s wonderful! I appreciate you sharing with everyone about you. I’m sure you folks out there want to know more about Jenny, so you can ask us. She is doing really well and coming along and I’m sure you are going to see her in your travels around Coyle. So until next time, enjoy!

Gary
